NASCAR has plan to increase its diversity

They plan to increase diversity with a new plan to train and hire more minorities to drive, work the pits and to help handle its business. They want to work with historically black universities to teach them the technical curriculum by liking them to the Universal Technical Institue a program used by NASCAR. Today there is only one black driver in its three top series. Do you think this plan will work?

Downfall of Nascar is coming imo. Well I quit watching it anyways, my family gave up six season passes to BMS. Not due to diversity just due to the fact that Nascar is no longer what it was. It used to be racing, now it's political. You cant speak your mind or do what you choose and Nascar in all honestly hasn't been the same since the death of Dale (and I hated the man).

Same thing here. Went for years and years to multiple races but its become too corporate now. I mean I'll watch it, but I just can't really get into it that much.

I loved when if someone bumped you or did you wrong, you didn't have to be all political correct, you just got even
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

it has nothing to do with being politically correct, it has everything to do with the race cars costing $750,000-1 million bucks.

Well the cost part is a factor but when people had no budgets to speak of, the costs in relation to expense was equivalent. There was no million dollar prizes so those small paychecks hurt then too.

I mean we all knew Dale, Cale, and the rest would wreck someone if they done them wrong. Now if someone does it, they end up in trouble.

It's just not the same.

Re: NASCAR has plan to increase its diversity

I agree completely racing is not the same sport that got people to watching it in the first place. I place the blame solely on Brian France and his bunch. They don't really care about their true fan base all they want is to "holywood" up the sport just to get more money in their pockets. I still follow racing just not like I used to. I used to go to 8-10 races a year and never missed a race on tv, but now I went to 3 races last year and didn't mind seeing them on tv or not. It just isn't any fun to not see any real fender bangin racin.

this is true and a lot of people feel like this. My question is why point the finger at Tony Stewart when he is carrying on this legacy that those two guys are loved for and Tony is hated for?

Re: NASCAR has plan to increase its diversity

I don't have a problem with diversity and trying to get more minorities involved witht the sport, but I do believe they are doing this at the detriment of the sport. The lack of diversity in NASCAR is just due to the nature of the sport being one that is not readily available to minorities from an early age like football and others. It takes a good bit of maoney to get into racing at any level and alot of time, even at the go-kart level where you would need to start you are looking at a 10-20 thousand dollar a year investment.

you're right...racing is very similar to golf. both sports requires a significant start up cost.
